I think NOT. It’s hard enough to search through my hundreds of apps. I found the heart easy to locate as a dating site. If it was just a blue bulls eye I would over look it and use the other apps. It’s has nothing to do with what the site is about. I think it would be a mistake.

Coming from someone who works with businesses everyday (both at an entry brand level and enterprise level) I would suggest either keeping the existing, or recreating the existing one to give it a more clean look.

This really has nothing to do with what Skout is.
It’s cool that you want to make a change, but just spice up the heart design, since it’s about love and whatnot. People generally think of hearts when they think of love or dating. Honestly, I would totally forget to get on if it wasn’t the heart. The bullseye would make me think I have the wrong app on my iPod. >.<

No.. If anything… Put the original heart icon in the middle as the Bullseye.. But make it cover the second ring! It would emphasize “Target the Heart”!!! A plain blue target doesn’t represent the obvious and would be hard to locate for people whom didn’t organize their App Icons!

Skout is loved the way it looks. The need to change your logo must have a clear and logical connection to a change in strategy. Without that strategy apparent to us, why would any of us want the logo changed? How does the blue-and-white bull’s-eye help us? What do the three layers below signify? And why, for the love of god, would you want to make random changes to something that is going so good for you?
I don’t like it very much. It’s not bad, but stay original. I hate when apps and websites update and change their looks. Sometimes plain is the way to go. Please keeps Skout from becoming too flashy and high tech. Anyway, I like the icon the way it is.

Well everyone seems to assume its a “target” but it looks more like a ripple effect to me. I think it’s great because as you start off at the center and as you use the app and socialize more your expanding your social circle more and more.

Personally I don’t care for the new symbol but try to create something that looks unique and brightly colorful not rainbow like but a solid bright color of some sort of icon. The heart is ok, but use ur imagination but remember don’t let it look like a blended color or icon among our apps. It will be looked over especially because it doesn’t even alert u when u have messages like facecrack and twitter unless u click and open the icon.

I seem to agree with both points that I’m seeing a lot of here. Some want it discreet and some want it to be obvious and findable, I guess it depends mainly on the use of the user. So personally I would suggest maybe something that looks like a heart (or something similar) that doesn’t jump out at you as being TOO obvious. The best of both worlds. I’m an artist and I would love to send some ideas if you decide you’d like to do something like that.

Looks great but the only problem is that it looks very similar to the target icon. Something a little more creative and unique would be better. For instance the app myyearbook when I see that I know hey that’s myyearbook. You guys might want an icon that sticks and not a Rip off of something else.

Why not make a heartshaped target? .-. Since the target itself isn’t really original and might meet some problems with target. Also it has very little of what the ap is fully about. Id think it as game ap if you had the target icon. However a heartshaped target means: you’re skouting for a relationship of some sort.

I like the heart much more than a target. The target makes me feel a bit icky… actually very icky. It’s too creepy & sort of “hit & run” – & the guys don’t need any more encouragement to keep that belief in their minds (no offense intended – personal experience only).

I’ve worked as a graphic artist, and I’d have to ask if the new icon stack/layers has a purpose. And if the bullseye has a purpose also. The new icon looks fine, but the original seemed to have meaning. Not a negative criticism at all, I’d just prefer more info. Thanks.
interesting change but way to close to the Target logo…plus it doesn’t tie into the meaning of the app as well, a target icons too aggressive for a lot of people with negative connotations that could turn off new people or have them not realize what the app is all about.

I don’t really like this. I do have a suggestion though. Make it a picture of two people’s hands forming a heart. Try and make it two different cultured people. That sort of stands out and you can tell it is a dating app/site. You could put it over anything really.

I dislike the eye ball/target….the heart was what got me too try this app out and the hear makes it easier too find the hear out of all the other apps on my phone….if it get changed it should at least be a different heart or something to do with the app I don’t get what a target/eye balls has too do with dating or Skout :/

Definitely make the change. The logo will evolve and this new icon is a better place to work from. Also, I heart Radio kind of made this look, while the target is more central to the theme of targeting people in your area.

Why not use both f.e. while downloading the app one can choose from the more discrete icon ( blue target icon) or for singles with no problems with hiding anything ( the heart icon) so u r the first to offer such service.. Both r great! afterwhile u can analize witch one people prefer the most! Good luck!!

I really like the new icon rather than the typical heart which is standard. The new icon color is awesome, well because blue is my favorite color and to me the color represents the ocean and blue sky which is infinitive in itself. Your site represents infinity to me because your options are endless. I also like the new icon because it is more confidential and folks can’t figure what type app it is by looking. Privacy is important.

No way! The current icon is warm and bright and optimistic and gregarious and outgoing and radiant and open (hearted) and catches my eye every time I see it in the dock. The new design (a full-stop caged in a circle of impenetrable rings) is cold and closed and boring and final and no different from any other heart-less corporate graphic.
Please don’t change the icon – or if you must, make it a change for the better.

I don’t mind the main logo staying the same. If your embarrassed about having the application then hide it in a folder or whatnot. I would prefer though that the notification icon be changed to something other than a heart……kinda hard to hide a notification alert.
